Our schedule for Sunday was a bit different as we went into town for Mass (Our Lady of Fatima in Minden). Breakfast came first, after which all changed into full uniform for Holy Mass. Bagheera and Akela Chris nearly got lost along the way, but a helpful pedestrian did a “good turn” and pointed them and their Timber Wolves in the right direction. All of the Timber Wolves and leaders posed for a photograph outside the church:
Before Holy Mass, we prayed the Rosary in church, and many of the parishioners joined in prayer with us as they filed in. Then came Mass itself, the high point of our spiritual day, after which Akela Paul gave a brief talk on Our Lady of Fatima and fielded a lot of questions. No holds were barred, but the Grey Wolf answered each Timber Wolf with patience and charity.
Lunch followed upon our return to camp, and then a special treat — canoeing down the Gull River to Norland for ice cream!
Ice cream procured and eaten, we headed back to Shadow Lake for a water fight!
After the water fight, we returned to camp proper for some more work on our badge and star programs. Dinner followed, then chores, tuck shop, showers, and mug up. Leaders started planning for the 2nd-year Timber Wolf overnight hike. The Brown Six heard the conclusion of “Rikki-tikki-tavi,” and the cabin was left in Keego’s capable hands as Bagheera would accompany the overnighters the next day.
